All Shook Up – Casting Notice
UPDATE: CASTING NOTICE for the role of SYLVIA

Built around songs made famous by Elvis Presley, All Shook Up takes place in 1955 in a square little town in America. Where one girl’s dream and a surprise visit from a mysterious leather-jacketed, guitar-playing, motorcycle-riding stud help a small town to discover the magic of romance and the power of rock and roll.

In the original Broadway production of All Shook Up, the role of Sylvia is written as African American. Like members of marginalised groups around the world, African Americans have their own unique experiences and stories to tell.  To authentically and respectfully represent these stories, and provide opportunities for other marginalised groups, Babirra Music Theatre is seeking a performer who identifies as a member of the African Diaspora community or who identifies as a person of colour for the role of Sylvia.

SYLVIA – The no-nonsense, owner of SYLVIA’S HONKY-TONK. Huge range. Performs There’s Always Me, That’s All Right, Heartbreak Hotel and other songs.

Babirra rehearses in Canterbury, Victoria with rehearsals scheduled to begin in early February 2023.
