About ALL SHOOK UP

Loosely based on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, All Shook Up is built around some of the songs made famous by Elvis Presley. It takes place in 1955, somewhere in a square little town in a square little state….in the middle of a square decade, somewhere in America. Where one girl’s dream and a surprise visit from a mysterious leather-jacketed, guitar-playing, motorcycle-riding stud help a small town to discover the magic of romance and the power of rock and roll. This hip-swivelling, lip-curling musical fantasy will have you jumpin’ out of your blue suede shoes with such classics as Heartbreak Hotel, Jailhouse Rock, Love Me Tender, Don’t Be Cruel, Can’t Help Falling in Love, and of course the title tune.

Audition Requirements

Please prepare two songs, of your choice, that showcase your vocal range and capabilities. You may not be asked to sing both songs, and you may be asked to sing just a portion of either song, so please prepare an appropriate cut.
You may also be asked to sing a few bars or read lines from the show and not necessarily for the role you may be auditioning for.
A flexible approach from auditionees will ensure that the production team can make the best possible assessment of each person.

An accompanist will be provided, so please bring sheet music in your key. Backing tracks or A Capella are not acceptable.
Please arrive 10 or 15 minutes prior to your audition time, to allow time to fill in your audition form and discuss your song(s) with our accompanist.

Please provide an up-to-date photo and resume if available, to be attached to your audition form.
The Production Team is to be fully informed at the audition of your availability throughout the rehearsal period – any conflicting dates must be noted on your audition form.

Attendance at the dance/movement audition will be by invitation after attending a vocal audition.
Please wear appropriate and comfortable, close-fitting clothes and shoes, and be warmed up before the audition.

Call-back invitations will be issued after the final vocal auditions on Tuesday 15 November.
